It’s always exciting when Chef makes its way to a new platform. Today we’re announcing the availability of the preview release of Chef Client 11.10 for the PowerPC-based AIX 6.1 and AIX 7.1 operating systems.
While this preview release is not intended for use in production systems, we’d absolutely like you to try it out in test / development environments and share your experiences via the Chef mailing list and the #chef
IRC channel.

Our thanks go to IBM for their collaboration with us in adapting Chef Client for the AIX environment. We’d like to give a special mention to IBM’ers David Clissold, Kaveh Massoudian, and Neil Koropoff for their technical advice. This assistance from IBM as well as IBM’s continued investments in cookbooks such as the WebSphere cookbook is helping us all make great strides on IBM platforms.
